Dental Bridge Implants in Southfield, MI

Don't let missing teeth be the reason you avoid laughing and smiling. Instead, the professionals at Southfield Family Dental can change the appearance of your smile in a positive way with dental bridge implants. Missing teeth affect not only your self-confidence but the functionality of your teeth and the shape of your face. At Southfield Family Dental, our dentists can replace these teeth and adequately distribute the forces in your bite for a more effective ability to bite and chew.

Restore Your Smile

Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge comprises two crowns for the teeth on either side of the opening, called abutments, with a false tooth/teeth in between, called a pontic. In order to properly place a dental bridge, it must be supported by natural teeth or implants, which typically require a crown to be placed for anchoring. For this reason, your dental bridge implant process will take two visits to Southfield Family Dental.

During the first visit, our dentists will remove a portion of the enamel to allow for a crown and create a mold to be sent out for the dental bridge fabrication. A temporary bridge will be made and worn for several weeks until your next appointment, where we will cement your permanent bridge into place.

FAQs

How long does a dental bridge last?

The quality of your general oral hygiene and long-term habits play a significant factor in the lifespan of your dental bridge. Typically, you can expect a fixed bridge to last multiple years if properly cared for.

How do I take care of a dental bridge?

You should take care of a dental bridge the same way you would of your other teeth—properly brushing each day and having regular dental checkups. Aside from that, we advise limiting foods and behaviors that are hard on teeth, especially chewing ice. To increase the longevity of your permanent dental bridge, we encourage you to floss daily and use a water pick at least once a week. The hygienists at Southfield Family Dental are happy to show you how to floss around your bridge to keep it healthy and last longer.

What can a dental bridge improve?

A dental bridge can restore your ability to chew and speak properly, accurately distribute the forces in your bite, prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position, and keep your face shape intact. If you're unsure whether a dental bridge is right for you, contact Southfield Family Dental at (248) 720-5526.
